Head of Design - Menswear

Location: Remote, Ghana or Nigeria

Responsibilities

  • Design Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive design strategy aligned with business objectives and market trends.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of designers, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of design projects in the EMEA region.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of design initiatives.
  • Brand Representation: Ensure consistent brand representation and uphold brand integrity.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Drive innovation and stay updated with industry trends.
  • Software Expertise: Utilize design software and tools to create and modify designs.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage design budgets, allocate resources effectively, and optimize project efficiency.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance: Set high standards for design quality and continuous improvement.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Must have attended a fashion school.
  • 1-2 years of design experience with at least one year in a leadership role in the fashion industry.
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and fashion trends.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and Figma.
  • Experience in EMEA markets is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of fabric types, production processes, and quality control.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate goals into actionable design strategies.
  • Leadership abilities with a track record of managing high-performing design teams.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in design or a related field is preferred.
